Compact Flash 8Gig card arrived

My Type I CF card finally arrived in the mail today. I put it in my 720 and it was recognized just fine.

Now its time head over to www.jlime.com and follow the installation instructions. I need a linux/unix environment to setup the partitions on the CF card so I'm using a Knoppix 6.2 boot DVD which gives me everything I need including web access. I'm actually using it now to write this post via IceWeasel (unbranded firefox).

So far so good ....

Setting up the Jornada 720

First some quick history:

I've been sitting on 3 Jornada 720s for years and I finally decided to dig one out and see if I could find a use for it.

I managed to find a 128meg Compact Flash Card and a compatible network PC card (not WiFi).

I also just today replaced the backup battery to stop the constant warning popups (CR2023 and it stored under the Compact Flash Card).

I'm going to use this blog as a Journal and hopefully someone finds it interesting.

Setup:
Nothing too interesting to note yet but I've set the memory slider to allocate about 24 megabytes to Program Memory as I plan to use the Compact Flash card as storage.

I've also used a USB cable to connect to my Windows 7 (64 bit) PC through the Mobile Device Center - and yes it actually just worked.

Installed Software:
I found a few backup disks and did some digging online and this is what I've installed:
Capture CE (for screen captures of course)
Microsoft Pocket Plus Pack
and most importantly - PocketDos

more to come
